Suarez and Bale 13/2 to be teammates at Real Madrid next term

The names of Luis Suarez, Cesc Fabregas, Wayne Rooney and Gareth Bale have been buzzing around the silly season gossipsphere like night time flies around an exposed lightbulb. Perhaps in order to inject some kind of decisiveness into all the uncertainty, Ladbrokes have unleashed some specials on members of the foursome ending up at the same places of residence at the end of the window.

The fates of Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas look intertwined and with Real Madrid courting both Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale there is every chance that by hook-or-by crook some configuration of the members of the column-inch hoarding quartet may end up at the same club at the end of the bunfight.

Fabregas is being pursued in fairly uncompromising fashion by Rooney’s Red Devils and it’s 9/2 that both pull on the colours of Manchester United next term. Alternatively, punters who fancy that the Rooney-to-Barcelona gossip has some substance may wish to avail themselves of the 20/1 about the pair linking up at Camp Nou in 2013/14.

However, with Xavi aging and Thiago moving to Bayern Munich, now is the time for Fabregas to make himself lead violin within the Blaugrana ensemble and it’s hard to see a player who wanted nothing more than a return to Catalunya a couple of summers ago turning his back on the club already.

The 13/2 about Suarez and Bale ending up bolstering Carlo Ancelotti’s strikeforce at Real Madrid makes more appeal.

Real have once again been heavily linked with the Welsh wonder in recent days and whilst the £70m-plus fee he would command would bottom out most club’s piggy banks, Los Merengues could offset a potential shopping spree against the £30m-plus fee received from Napoli for Gonzalo Higuain, meaning a pursuit of Suarez wouldn’t founder on a lack of funds.

Although Arsenal currently seem in the box seat when it comes to bringing in the Uruguayan, his antipathy towards the British press along with Real’s greater standing in the game could well be enough to see the Castillians gazump the Gunners.
