Royal baby Henry will spark second round of celebrations

News is still to filter through as to what Prince William and Kate Middleton will name their new baby boy and although it is George that has been backed into favourite, it is Henry that is sure to generate the bigger celebrations.

The betting has already been wrong on one count as the Royal couple were widely expected to give birth to a girl, which was odds-on since the pregnancy was first revealed.

And Ladbrokes will now be hoping that lightning doesn’t strike twice, with Henry backed in from 50/1 to 5/1 in recent days, although this name has since drifted to 12/1.

Also on the drift is James from 2/1 favourite to 4/1, with George the new market leader after being supported from 5/1 into 2/1.

Alexander is another name to have been backed slightly into 7/1, with Louis, one of William’s middle names, joining Henry among the 12/1 offerings.

William is the 4/7 favourite to be holding the baby when the family leave hospital, with Kate 6/4 in this market, while it is 8/11 that the couple announce that they are having a second child ahead of brother Harry getting married.

It is 1/1 that 2015 is the year that Kate and William announce that they are having a second child and William has a two-year age gap with Harry.

Alternatively, 2/1 is the price that they announce the baby next year and there is only a single year between Kate and her sister Pippa.

Punters prepared to wait for a successful payday can take advantage of odds of 8/1 that the Royal baby, who is third in line, ascends the throne before 2065, while it is 1/1 that he takes over after.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
