German season underway with classy Super Cup matchup

Dortmund are 3/1 to win and claim some redemption in Germany’s domestic season opener, but will again come up against a Bayern Munich side in scintillating form, priced at 5/6 to win.
A draw can be had at 11/4, but last season’s treble-winners have lost just once since October and have been scoring relentlessly in pre-season under new boss Pep Guardiola.
They’ve banged in 22 goals in five games, conceded just one before seeing off Barcelona 2-0 on Wednesday night in comfortable fashion.
Dortmund lost 1-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach in their most recent match, ending a run of four friendly wins in which Jurgen Klopp’s men scored on 15 occasions.
With the quality of players on show, and the fact that both teams scored in four of their five meetings last season, expect a lot of attention to be had on both teams to score at a price of 8/13.
Bayern have spent the summer bolstering their ranks, adding Thiago Alacantra to the previously snapped-up Mario Gotze from Dortmund, and look a more formidable threat than ever.
Dortmund have hung on to Robert Lewandowski in the off-season, but they failed to beat Bayern in any of those quintet of matches in the previous campaign and the gulf between the teams has arguably widened over the summer.
Bayern are 7/1 to win 2-1 as they did twice last year, and 15/2 to repeat the 1-0 scoreline from February’s German Cup quarter-final.
Bayern scored in all but one game last season, and it’s hard to see them being kept out here.
Those fancying Dortmund to edge this might be tempted by a 2-1 win at 11/1, or a 1-1 draw as happened twice in last year’s meetings, which can be had at 13/2.
