Charnley and Sinfield to shine in busy night of Super League

Published:

Leeds have looked a far more robust outfit since Kevin Sinfield’s return from injury and their skipper should help them overcome their 20 point handicap against Salford Reds, availbale at even money with Ladbrokes.

The Rhinos have won their last two meetings with the Reds 42-14 and 46-12, with King Kev crossing the whitewash on both occasions; he’s 7/4 to carry on that trend in the anytime scorer market.

With the two aforementioned results totalling either side of tonight’s 56.5 total points line (5/6), a more shrewd prediction is for the points to sum between 51 and 60 (11/4), especially as four  of the last six games between these sides have fallen within that range.

The victor of Wigan and Huddersfield’s tie should go on to take the League Leaders Shield, but in the modern game, winning the league is barely considered an accolade. The Warriors have a Challenge Cup final coming up and it is feasible to see the Giants replicating last season’s victory here (15/8).

Wigan’s Josh Charnley is the best winger in Super League though, you need only look at his recent scoring record to see that. The 22-year-old has scored at least two tries in his last five games and is 11/8 to score yet another brace, an achievement that would possibly see him clinch the Man of the Match award too (15/1).

Tonight’s third and final match sees St Helens side welcome the Broncos to Langtree Park.  London bounced back from their 70-0 Challenge Cup humiliation at Wigan with an encouraging 18-30 loss to Leeds last week.

And although Saint Helens are a club in form – they beat Wigan the week before last – the 32 point head start offered on London at 10/11 looks cracking value. In the last 11 matches between the sides this handicap would have attained a 100 percent success rate.
