Bet Of The Century: Juventus to win 2013/14 Serie A with Tevez

Published:

“Bet of the century” stature is reserved for those bets that are as good as bullet proof and because of this, they are bets that are only rolled out sporadically.

We have only used this theme three times in the last 10 months and all three have been winners, at prices of 1/3, 8/11 and 23/20.

This time the price in question is 5/6, with Juventus picked to win the Serie A title for the third successive season in 2013/14.

Juventus have claimed their last two titles without the aid of a true goalscorer, with no player managing more than 10 goals in either of their last two campaigns.

However, this could all be set to change for the upcoming season and it certainly has to be considered a masterstroke by Antonio Conte to acquire strikers of the calibre of Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez for a combined €12m.

Meanwhile, the new recruits may not stop there as Juventus still seem intent on capturing Stevan Jovetic, who is the best player at Fiorentina.

Although to do so they will surely have to sell some of their current striking deadwood and the futures look fairly bleak for Fabio Quagliarella, Mirko Vucinic, Alessandro Matri and the highly frustrating Sebastian Giovinco.

Elsewhere, business is likely to remain the same.

Gianluigi Buffon is set to remain in goal for at least one more season and he will be keen to influence a defence that has been the best in the division for the last two campaigns and the cornerstone of their title pushes.

As for the main challengers, Napoli are hard to fancy as they will find it impossible to replace the goals scored by Edinson Cavani should he leave as expected.

AC Milan are unlikely to be stronger than last season either, meaning that it could be Roma, under the guidance of former Lille boss Rudi Garcia, that may be the most formidable challengers.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
