#Sambahack: Human rights group ‘hacks’ fake FIFA World Cup site

A Swiss group that champions political and social justice has hacked a fake World Cup website ahead of Brazil 2014.
Solidar Suisse used the exact template of the official FIFA World Cup page to campaign for a “fair World Cup” in Brazil.
The site www.fifa-brazil-2014.com transforms from the familiar template to display the message “We want a fair World Cup” in the header.
FIFA President Sepp Blatter was the focal point of the hack, as a cartoon version of the Swiss appeared in a flamboyant Brazilian outfit to dance to background music.
The hashtag #sambahack is being used to proliferate the campaign, which is fighting for justice for the Brazilian residents who have reportedly suffered as a result of their country’s selection as the host for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Solidar’s site claims that neighbourhood residents have been evicted and street vendors have had their licenses revoked ahead of the competition.
The group’s aim is to avoid a repeat of what it calls “the debacle of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa”. According to the site, the high-profile stunt has already amassed over 180,000 followers and it looks set to continue over the course of the morning.
