Possible Tevez replacement being backed for Man City switch

The book may have been closed on which club Isco will sign for this summer, but Robert Lewandowski’s future is anything but certain and it is now just 4/1 that he is a Manchester City player by the end of the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid have seemingly beaten Man City to the capture of the Malaga playmaker, but he was not the only name on the radar of Manuel Pellegrini.

A new striker has seemingly become a bigger priority now that Carlos Tevez has been allowed to join Juventus, with Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko the only first teamers really available to Manuel Pellegrini in his maiden Premier League season.

Goals were the real problem for the club last season as they scored 27 less than in their title-winning campaign, while Sergio Aguero’s collection of knee and hamstring injuries suggest that he is unlikely to be an ever present.

One or two new faces are certainly required, even if Pellegrini is most likely to employ a lone striker, but Edinson Cavani is said to be too expensive, Radamel Falcao has already joined Monaco and Roberto Soldado may not be high profile enough.

Available strikers in the top echelon who will make others sit up and take notice seem few and far between and so it is no surprise that Lewandowski is being backed to sign for Man City before September 1st.

Sky Italy have suggested that Man City have enquired about Mario Gomez and it would appear that the German is available to leave the European champions. Fiorentina would look the main rivals for his signature.

Alternatively, now that Barcelona have signed Neymar, there is the possibility that Alexis Sanchez could be allowed to leave the Nou Camp and he would bring some added flexibility in being able to play in any of the forward roles.
