Laudrup clear favourite to be next Premier League boss to leave

Michael Laudrup has been linked with a host of jobs since guiding Swansea to the Capital One Cup this season and it is this demand from bigger clubs in world football that makes him the clear favourite to be the first of the current 20 Premier League managers to leave their post.

The big interest from Laudrup has come from Real Madrid in the close season, although it seems that the Spanish giants are on the brink of naming Carlo Ancelotti when they can reach a compensation agreement with PSG.

This will obviously open up a vacancy at PSG and there are growing noises that Laudrup is now the number one target to be named as his successor.

Meanwhile, a fall-out between Laudrup’s agent Bayram Tutumlu and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins will not help matters, even if Tutumlu has since come out and insisted that Laudrup will remain in Wales.

It is 1/1 that Laudrup is the first Premier League manager to leave and there is no obvious competition in this market at present.

Paulo Di Canio is next in the betting at 5/1, but with Sunderland recently extending their Italian job of sorts by appointing a new director of football and scout from the country, this would suggest that the former striker is seen as a long-term appointment.

Alan Pardew is 8/1 and he could be at risk if starting another season poorly at Newcastle, even if sacking him would be mightily expensive given the extreme length of his contract.

Therefore, the best opposition to Laudrup may come from Martin Jol at 10/1 as Fulham appeared to be going backwards towards the end of the last campaign and more of the same would surely put his job under pressure.
