Ladbrokes top price on five favourites in top-flight openers

With Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all beginning the season with new managers in charge, other clubs with eyes on the title or even a top-four finish will feel they can build some pressure with a strong start to the campaign.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool all have managers that have had at least a year at their clubs to enforce their ideas on the playing staff and assemble squads that they believe can challenge for bigger things.

And this trio feature in the five favourites that Ladbrokes offer the best prices for to secure maximum points on the opening day of this season, alongside Everton and Sunderland.

Therefore, punters will not get a better price at present than the 19/1 on this five all starting the season with three points.

Arsenal are the shortest priced at 2/5 to beat Aston Villa at the Emirates and this is a fixture they have won in each of the last two seasons.

However, the worry is that they have drawn their season opener in each of the last three campaigns and Villa famously left with a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the 2006/07 campaign in what was Arsenal’s first Premier League game at the Emirates.

Liverpool are 1/2 to beat a Stoke side led for the first time by Mark Hughes and the good news for the hosts is that the Potters have never scored on their five career visits to Anfield.

Tottenham travel across London to Premier League newcomers and are 4/5 to triumph, a fair price given the obvious gulf in class between the teams.

The other two clubs are not odds-on, with Everton 13/10 to start with a win under new boss Roberto Martinez at Norwich, while Sunderland are 5/4 to beat Fulham at the Stadium of Light.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
