Jankovic exit ups price of women’s Wimbledon day three accumulator
Published:Day three at Wimbledon means the start of the second round action in the women’s draw and Jelena Jankovic can be the latest seed to suffer defeat to enhance the price of our sixfold accumulator to 38/1.
Five odds-on favourites are the staple of the bet, but the distinctly ordinary record of the number 16 seed at SW19 means she could be upset by fellow Serbian Vesna Dolonc.
Jankovic saw her Wimbledon hopes end in the first round in both 2011 and 2012 and she was not particularly dominant in her success over Britain’s Johanna Konta in the opening round this year.
Dolonc has already caused one surprise by knocking out Yanina Wickmayer and if playing to the same level, she is more than capable of repeating the feat.
Another upset-queen in the first round was Monica Puig as she beat fifth seed and French Open semi finalist Sara Errani and she faces Spain’s Silvia Soler-Espinosa, who has never been beyond the second round of a grass-court event.
Kirsten Flipkens is another confident selection as she has already beaten Bojana Jovanovski this season for the loss of just five games on the hard courts of Australia.
Jovanovski also need an extended final set to beat world-ranked 145 Ajla Tomljanovic in the first round and she will need to drastically improve on this display to stand a chance here.
Elsewhere, Carla Suarez-Navarro is picked to see off Mirjana Lucic-Baroni, while Su-Wei Hsieh is taken to beat Alize Cornet, despite losing both previous meetings between the pair.
She dropped just one game in the first round and was only narrowly beaten at Eastbourne by eventual winner Jamie Hampton.
Hampton was eliminated in the first round at Wimbledon by Sloane Stephens and she is our final selection, to beat Andrea Petkovic.
