Gimeno-Traver bolsters men’s Wimbledon day two accumulator

With just four victories from his 15 career matches on grass courts, it may come as somewhat of a surprise that we have included Daniel Gimeno-Traver as part of our men’s accumulator on day two of Wimbledon.

However, his opponent Daniel Brands is hardly a whizz on grass either, triumphing in just one of his eight showdowns on the surface and this sole victory was against largely unknown Dutchman Jesse Huta Galung.

It should be remembered that Gimeno-Traver did take a set off Andy Murray at Wimbledon in 2011 and so his price of 3/1 to beat Brands is a worthy inclusion in the fourfold, which pays out at over 50/1.

Another Spaniard is also featured, with Roberto Bautista-Agut taken to beat Russia’s Teimuraz Gabashvili.

Bautista-Agut is over 60 places higher than his opponent in the ATP rankings and came through their most recent meeting in straight sets last year in Gabashvili’s backyard.

His performance in reaching the quarter finals in Holland recently also showed some improvement on grass and there is the feeling that Bautista-Agut has been slightly underpriced for this one.

Elsewhere, Andreas Seppi is a worthy favourite against Denis Istomin given that he has triumphed in four of their five career meetings.

However, the last three head-to-heads have all required a deciding set, including at Wimbledon last year, so don’t expect this to be settled quickly.

The final inclusion is Paul-Henri Mathieu, who is a slight underdog against Richard Berankis.

Both are yet to win a match on grass between them this season, with Mathieu favoured as he went all of the way to the fourth round at Wimbledon last year.
