Del Potro and Berdych lead men’s day four Wimbledon accumulator

Roger Federer’s surprise defeat to go alongside that of Rafael Nadal means that nine of the top 20 seeds in the men’s draw at Wimbledon are already out and the end of the second round has not even been reached yet.

This potentially opens up the draw for others with serious aspirations of reaching the latter stages and testing the big guns.

Two such players with reasonable claims of securing such scalps are Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro, assuming they can get through their second round encounters.

Not only are they being tipped to do so, but both are fancied to reach the third round at Wimbledon with 3-0 victories and these two outcomes feature among five selections that combine to make a 20/1 accumulator in the men’s day four action.

Berdych faces Daniel Brands in round two and he+ beat the German at Wimbledon in 2010, albeit in four sets.

However, Brands’ recent grass record is not the best and he is arguably a weaker player than Martin Klizan, who Berdych brushed aside in the opening round in straight sets.

Del Potro’s 3-0 win is potentially more certain given that he hasn’t dropped a set to Jesse Levine in their two previous meetings and that the Canadian has only reached the second round in one ATP Tour event since the Australian Open in January.

Elsewhere, Bernard Tomic pulled out of the doubles with a rumoured injury and if this is the case, James Blake is a big price to dump out the Australian.

Milos Raonic doesn’t seem to have fulfilled his potential in recent years and could be in danger against useful underdog Igor Sijsling, who can certainly compete in terms of serve and baseline play.

Sijsling will look fine value if playing to the level that saw him take Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to a tight three sets at Queen’s.

Our final selection is Ivan Dodig, who should be buoyant after coming back from two sets down to win in round one against Philipp Kohlscreiber and he faces Denis Kudla, who will be no fresher after also needing five sets to win his opener against weaker player James Duckworth.
