Bournemouth best equipped for back-to-back promotion push

Back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League have been all the rage after Norwich City and Southampton both achieved the feat in recent seasons.

The 2011 Canaries were the first side since Manchester City, at the turn of the century, to gain consecutive promotions from League One to the English top flight and Southampton followed in their footsteps the very next year.

Now Bournemouth, Doncaster and Yeovil will attempt to follow promotion to the Championship by reaching the coveted riches of the Premier League.

Bournemouth, despite missing out on the League One title, seem to be the most equipped to reach the top-flight.

The Dean Court outfit are willing to splash the cash to strengthen their squad, with Burnley striker Danny Ings, Birmingham midfielder Wade Elliot and Wolves star Jamie O’Hara all reported to be on the radar.

The Cherries, who are 11/2 with Ladbrokes to gain promotion, already boast plenty of talent in their squad with higher level experience. If Eddie Howe can significantly strengthen, then they could be the surprise package of the season.

Doncaster, who were promoted as League One champions, are 25/1 to reach the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Rovers will not be fancied by many to escape the Championship but if new manager Paul Dickov can pull off deals for Manchester United prospect Nick Powell and his former team-mate Luke McCullough, people will start to take notice.

Yeovil, at 40/1, are the least fancied of all three promoted sides to perform well in the Championship and their hopes will revolve around keeping star striker Paddy Madden.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest in recent weeks but manager Gary Johnson will want to keep hold of his 22-goal hitman as he looks to bring six or seven new faces on to Huish Park.
