Swansea v Man City: Citizens on for first Liberty win
As Swansea dare to dream of cocktails and sun tans, Manchester City have their sights on securing second place in the Premier League.
Three points in south Wales and a Chelsea defeat at Old Trafford will all but rubber stamp it and with an onus on getting the job done as quickly as possible, they couldn’t ask for better opponents than Swansea.
The Citizens are very reasonably priced 3/4 shots to claim their first set of spoils at the Liberty Stadium against a Swans side who have mustered just one win since their Capital One Cup final success and have gone six without victory.
They’ve conceded exactly two goals in all but one whilst on this barren patch and with their lavishly assembled adversaries only failing to find the back of the net in one of their previous 13 outings, there’s sure to be goals served up in this one.
Unfortunately for the Swansea faithful, Roberto Mancini’s men will claim the lion’s share of them. Again, 3/4 is the offering for them to register north of 1.5 goals, while over 2.5 Man City strikes is a tempting prospect at 9/4.
There looks to be a good chance that this will represent the first Premier League meeting between the pair where neither keeper celebrates unsullied laundry at the final whistle.
The previous three top flight clashes between the pair have yielded wins to nil, though only one clean sheet in six games played outside the confines of the Etihad for City makes 3/4 – it’s cropping up a lot – an excellent value bet that both sides will hit the back of the net here.
For those of the belief that the win to nil trend will continue, the Citizens can be backed at 15/8 to achieve the feat, while Swansea are a monstrous 15/2 to do the same. If that doesn’t quench your thirst for a bumper odds bet, the 12/1 on offer for the Swans to repeat their 1-0 triumph in this fixture last term might be of interest.
