Ruler Of The World 10/1 for Derby glory after Chester win

Published:

It was a big week of trials for this year’s Epsom Derby, and the picture is now just that little bit clearer.

Ruler Of The World is sure to attract plenty of backers at 10/1 following his commanding victory at Chester on Thursday.

Ryan Moore rode Aidan O’Brien’s horse to a comfortable win by six lengths in the Chester Vase, seeing off Mister Impatience, Havana Beat and Feel Like Dancing.

Moore said of Ruler Of The World; “The race worked out well for him, he’ll learn a lot. Going round here will have done him good.”

Even more impressive was Magician’s win at Chester the following day.

Magician endured a difficult finish to 2012, coming home last on his final race of the year in an Irish Group Three, but bounced back in fine style.

Ryan Moore again boarded one of O’Brien’s charges to an equally impressive victory in the Dee Stakes, coming home ahead of Contributor, Glacial Age and Willie The Whipper.

It was the 200th anniversary of the first Dee Stakes, and Moore was again impressed with his winning ride; “Magician is a very nice horse. he felt relaxed going round there and when you asked he really quickened very well.”

Magician powered away down the home straight, showing signs of stamina reminiscent of his sire, Galileo, and is 14/1 to win the Derby next month.

Another Aidan O’Brien colt romped home at Lingfield on Saturday.

Nevis was the prize recipient from Greatwood’s late withdrawal due to the soft going, and with Ryan Moore aboard roared away to an eight length victory from Elidor.

Though it may have been difficult to judge the quality of the win given Greatwood’s absence, the win brings Nevis in to 25/1 for Derby glory, while Greatwood is at 16/1.
