QPR v Arsenal: Gunners can sweep aside nonplussed hosts

Published:

It’s been a miserable season for QPR fans and it shows no sign of getting a thin silver lining in this London derby against Arsenal.

It can often be hard to predict results at this time of the season but, with so much vitriol being directed towards the highly paid Hoops players due to their abject failures this term, it’s hard to see them getting anything out of this game – or even caring if they do.

Arsenal are the big 4/9 favourites and, even if QPR weren’t in complete and utter disarray, it would be hard to look beyond Arsene Wenger’s men who have been flying in recent weeks.

The Gunners have now gone seven Premier League games without defeat and have only lost once in their previous 13 – a 2-1 loss against north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

When you factor in the fact that QPR have the worst home record in the English top tier (they’ve won just twice at Loftus Road in the league this term) then it really looks like there can only be one outcome.

If you’re after something a little meatier than the 4/9 offered for an Arsenal win then it looks well worth backing the visitors to win to nil at 31/20. It’s still not going to pay off the mortgage but, considering QPR haven’t scored in three and Arsenal have the best away defence in the Premier League, it looks well worth consideration.

However, if you’re feeling a bit flush this weekend, then QPR are available at 11/2 to get the win.

They saw off the Gunners at home 2-1 last season and their three meetings since QPR’s promotion to the Premier League have all been tight, with just one goal separating the sides on each occasion.
