Manchester United new boy Wilfried Zaha can shine for England

Wilfried Zaha’s final contribution for Crystal Palace proved to be a pretty vital one.

Having already generated around £15million for the Eagles due to his January move to Manchester United, Zaha – who was immediately loaned back to the south-east London club – won the penalty which Kevin Phillips converted at Wembley on Monday to seal Palace’s promotion to the Premier League after eight years away.

Having been voted as the man of the so-called £120million match against Watford, Zaha will now be turning his attention towards impressing for England in the forthcoming European Under-21 Championships.

As one of five players in Stuart Pearce’s squad who have picked up at least one senior cap, the wide man will be seeking to lead from the front as England face group matches against Italy, Norway and hosts Israel.

He’s available at 9/2 to finish as England’s top goalscorer in the tournament, with only the 7/2 pair of Tom Ince and Connor Wickham ahead of him in the betting.

As one of two designated penalty takers alongside the West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson – who is available at 7/1 to top England’s scoring charts – that price on Zaha is sure to tempt many who have been impressed by the impact he’s made in his career so far.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing for Manchester United will be plying his trade for new Old Trafford boss David Moyes next season, and the former Everton manager is likely to be a keen observer of the 20-year-old over the summer, as will United’s legion of fans.

Having scored 18 goals for Crystal Palace before his move north, Zaha is 20/1 to finish as the tournament’s top goalscorer in Israel, whilst you can get a huge 80/1 on the double of United’s new star bagging the most goals and Pearce’s England winning the tournament.
