Froch being backed to get Kessler revenge in late rounds

Published:

Patriotic punters have steadily started to back Carl Froch to get the job done in his eagerly anticipated rematch with Mikkel Kessler and not only do they think he will win the fight, they believe he will do so by stoppage.

Sparks have certainly been flying in the build up to the fight, with Froch going ever so slightly overboard with some of his comments, when threatening to “kill” the Dane.

And the chatter continued during the weigh in, where Froch tipped the scales at over 1lb more than his fellow super-middleweight world champion.

This weight advantage could prove significant and Froch has always said that he is in far better shape this time, compared to when he was outpointed by Kessler in Denmark three years ago.

Froch is clearly being believed by the fans as he has shortened from 4/7 to 4/9 to secure victory, which would take him one step closer to another wanted rematch with unbeaten WBA king Andre Ward.

However, Froch is not just being backed to win the fight, he is expected to pick up the victory in either rounds nine or 10.

These could be profitable avenues to explore, with Froch 18/1 to get his redemption in round nine and 20/1 to come through in the 10th.

Alternatively, it is 13/2 that the Nottingham man stops Kessler in the final third of the bout between rounds 9-12.

Kessler is pretty much friendless in the betting, despite one single bet of £10,000 being placed on him repeating his previous success over Froch.

Given that ring announcer Michael Buffer has labelled the pair as evenly matched in numerous areas, he could still represent the value bet at 2/1.

Kessler believes he is also in 10 times better shape than when last facing Froch and he is reaping the rewards of working on a new technical style for the past two years.

He believes he can also win the fight with a late stoppage and Kessler coming through between rounds 9-12 can be backed at 14/1.
