Championship accumulator: Forest and Leicester face play-off misery

Published:

The Championship enters its final day this Saturday with plenty of teams still battling to grab promotion or avoid relegation.

Watford and Hull are eyeing the second automatic place behind Cardiff, while Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley are both sweating at the other end of the table.

However, we’ve ignored those boys and plumped for a cheeky little double for our Championship accumulator – and it pays out at around 13/1…

Crystal Palace to draw with Peterborough @ 13/5

So bad was Peterborough’s first half of the season that even though they’ve only lost one of their last 12 league games, they’re still very much in danger of dropping to the third tier of English football.

However, they are currently outside of the relegation zone on goal difference and must surely feel a point against promotion-chasing Palace will be enough to see them safe – especially as the teams around them (Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley) all have worse goal difference.

They face a Palace side who also need a point to as good as guarantee a play-off place and who have drawn four of their last five and each of their last three.

Nottingham Forest to draw with Leicester @ 12/5

Both of these sides may still be in with a shout of a play-off place but their recent form certainly doesn’t point to them gate crashing the top six.

Between them they have won just two of their last 19 Championship games and both have drawn a huge amount of matches with teams around them in the league.

Leicester have drawn all but one of the six away games they’ve played against teams above them this season, while Forest have drawn home and away against each of the three teams immediately above them.

With two teams in such a dire run of form, backing the draw looks the best way to cash in on this match.
