Bayern & Dortmund good value for goals in Champions League final

Published:

Bayern Munich are favourites to lift the trophy at 4/9 and the Champions League final could be the perfect stage for the Bavarians to showcase their dominance with a high-scoring win.

Jupp Heynckes team have averaged 2.85 goals a game in the Bundesliga and with 29 in Europe this term, look good for a win with over 2.5 goals scored, which is available at 9/5 with Ladbrokes.

Six of Bayern’s nine wins in the Champions League this season featured over 2.5 goals, including both legs of their resounding 7-0 aggregate win over Barcelona in the semi-finals.

But while FC Hollywood have stolen the limelight, Borussia Dortmund’s whole season has been building to this match following an indifferent Bundesliga campaign and they are priced at 7/4 to claim the cup.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were unbeaten in the Champions League prior to their 2-0 loss to Real Madrid last time out and with 10-goal Robert Lewandowski leading the line, have seen over 2.5 goals scored in five of their seven wins. All of which makes odds of 6/1 on a Dortmund win with over 2.5 goals scored a tempting prospect.

The last time these two teams met in a major final Dortmund trounced Bayern 5-2 in the 2012 DFB Pokal Cup and Ladbrokes are offering odds of 2/1 on over 3.5 goals being scored with odds of 5/1 available on over 4.5 goals.

That final defeat coupled with Bayern’s Champions League heartbreak at the hands of Chelsea last term saw the Bavarians labelled as bottlers.

It’s certainly something backed up by history the with two of FCB’s last four appearances in the final resulting in a penalty shootout while the other two have ended in defeat.

In two of these finals Bayern also lost having previously taken the lead, making Ladbrokes’ offering of 5/1 on Dortmund to comeback to either win or draw another bet to look out for.
