100/1 massive price about Danny County winning The Voice

Published:

Danny County has endearing quirks and teen-appeal in abundance and he’s already through to the knockout stage of The Voice, making the 100/1 about him winning the competition a very generous price.

First and foremost the value about the price of victory for the soulful Londoner is a matter of logic, with 14 ahead of him in the betting yet to perform in the battle rounds to nail down their spot in the next round.

By the same token Lovelle Hill – also in the Jesse J stable – is another interesting proposition at an identical price, but Danny has his idiosyncratic style and youthful good looks over the soulstress.

The first two battle rounds showcased some perverse pairings from the four coaches, with Will.i.am’s pitting of opera twosome Carla and Barbara against Essex fog-horn Leanne Jarvis particularly sadistic for the duo, who struggled to be heard above some Richter-Scale-bothering vocal fireworks from their adversary.

It’s unlikely that the multi-platinum-selling Black Eyed Peas head honcho just had an off day in pairing a strong performer like Leanne with some sitting duck foes and it seems that the judges may be prepared to sacrifice the dead wood amongst their teams to ensure their favoured acts go through.

With this in mind Jessie J’s pairing of Danny with stage school warbler/below bog-standard rapper combo De’Vide (of Ipswich) spoke volumes of the high hopes she has for the 100/1 shot.

Danny duly came through with a tender and vulnerable rendition of Drake’s ‘Best I Ever Had’, that belied the fact that the performance was just the fifth public vocal outing of the youngster’s life.

With weeks of the show remaining and a coach who is highly sympathetic to his cause, County will have the benefit of time and mentoring to hone his raw natural talent and could be open to considerable improvement over the course of the contest – not something that can be said for his more showbiz-failure hardened rivals.
