Ladbrokes offer Masters money back if British or Irish player wins

The British and Irish charge arriving at Augusta looks particularly strong this year and should one win the Masters, Ladbrokes will be refunding stakes on all losing outright bets for the opening major of the year.

Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Justin Rose and Padraig Harrington all finished in the top ten at Augusta 12 months ago, while it would be foolish to completely write off Rory McIlroy despite his difficulties in the opening quarter of the year.

Throw in the likes of Luke Donald, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Paul Lawrie and there is no shortage of British and Irish players that will step onto the first tee at Augusta.

One is certainly due a victory too, given that Nick Faldo’s triumph in 1996 was the last occasion that a British or Irish player succeeded and even more surprising is that the whole of Europe hasn’t provided a winner of this major this century, since Jose Maria Olazabal’s victory in 1999.

Should one of the Brits or Irish players tame the likes of Tiger Woods and defending champion Bubba Watson, Ladbrokes will refund all losing outright bets as a free bet up to the value of £25 and the promotion is available to online and mobile customers only.

Interestingly for the chances of McIlroy and Westwood in particular, both are now based in Florida and looking at results from 2004 onwards at the Masters, the lion’s share of top-three players have ties to southern America.

Of the British and Irish challenge, McIlroy is deemed the most likely to gain a third major success at 10/1, while Poulter is potentially one to watch closely at 40/1 given that his worst result in the last six renewals is a share of 27th spot.
