Galatasaray v Real Madrid: hosts to make a game of it in Istanbul

Published:

Real Madrid travel to Galatasaray for their Champions League quarter final second-leg with progression already looking assured.

Jose Mourinho’s men are 3-0 up from the first-leg and are an unbackable 1/500 to make it through to the semi finals.

However, whilst their 3-0 aggregate lead looks pretty unassailable, there is plenty to suggest that Galatasaray can at least get something out of the game.

Real Madrid have been poor on the road this season and, even during a recent spell of four straight away wins, they struggled to stamp their authority on games.

They have conceded at least once in all bar two of their previous 16 away games and drew 1-1 at Real Zaragoza in their last match on the road.

With the hosts scoring in three of their four Champions League home games this season, backing both teams to score looks like a bet well worth taking on at a pretty decent 8/13.

If you fancy taking on some slightly longer odds then backing Galatasaray to get either a draw or a win looks a decent punt.

With a result as bad as a 2-0 defeat seeing Real through and Sergio Ramos and midfielder Xabi Alonso suspended for this second-leg, there is little need for Real to even try to be at their best.

Backing Galatasaray to win or draw in the double chance market is a particularly appetising bet at just over 1/1 – especially considering the way they fought back to beat Schalke in the last round.

Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in their last meeting and, with him scoring nine in nine Champions League games this season, backing him to find the net first at 3/1 is also worth some serious consideration.
