Chelsea look good value as Radamel Falcao eyes up his next move

As one of the hottest properties in world football right now, the Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao seemingly has his pick of potential new clubs.

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid are at the head of the market for Colombian’s services with both priced at 3/1.

However, with Atletico unlikely to sanction a deal with their cross-city rivals and newly crowned Premier League champions United already well-stocked in the forward department, Falcao could find himself moving elsewhere.

At 9/2, Chelsea represent an interesting proposition in the market for a player who has scored a staggering 67 goals in 85 appearances for his Spanish side since 2011.

Those strikes followed him hitting the back of the net 72 times in 87 appearances for previous club Porto, and with the two-time Europa League winner on the radar of all of Europe’s big clubs then Roman Abramovich will have to dig deep into his bottomless pockets to be able to afford him.

That is of course no problem for the Russian, and with Chelsea currently boasting just Fernando Torres and Demba Ba as first-team forwards then the Blues could move for the 27-year-old as a present for whoever replaces current interim boss Rafael Benitez.

Believed to be available for around £46million, Falcao would represent a huge statement of intent for the Blues ahead of their challenge for next season’s Premier League title.

Chelsea already have ties to Atletico given that their young Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has spent the last two seasons on loan at the Vicente Calderon stadium, and the club could sweeten any move for Falcao by allowing him to stay in Spanish capital for a third year.

There is also the prospect of Torres ending his frequently unhappy Blues spell with a move back to his first club, possibly speeding up a move for Falcao, a player who would be certain to take the Premier League by storm.
