Championship: Cardiff to take big step to title with Barnsley win

Published:

After seven years in the Championship it finally looks as though Cardiff City are ready to do what they have come so close to achieving before – winning promotion to the Premier League.

The Bluebirds are currently five points clear at the top of the English second tier and are a tiny 1/50 to still be there at the end of the season. Beating Barnsley would see those odds shorten even more.

Meanwhile, Millwall host Sheffield Wednesday ahead of their FA Cup semi final with Wigan, with the Lions favourites to pick up all three points.

It might not be that easy though…

Cardiff to beat Barnsley @ 4/6

The Bluebirds’ stay at the top of the Championship has been built on a fantastic home record that’s seen them lose just twice at Cardiff City Stadium all season.

They have won all bar two of their home matches against teams currently in the bottom half of the table and, with Barnsley struggling in 20th place and having the worst away defence in the division, 4/6 looks a pretty decent price for a Cardiff win.

Millwall to draw with Sheffield Wednesday @ 12/5

Despite having a fearsome home record in recent seasons, Millwall have struggled to assert themselves at the New Den this time out.

They have the eighth worst home record in the division and have not won in south-east London in five Championship matches.

With Wednesday winning only one of their last four away matches (despite their very good away record overall) backing this to end in a draw looks the best way of cashing in.
