Championship Accumulator: Posh to prevail in battle of the ‘Boros

Published:

With the Championship so tightly grouped at this late stage of the season, every match in the division is of particular significance.

That hasn’t deterred us from punting on the division though, and we have taken on the task of picking winners from four second-tier fixtures, each featuring promotion or relegation implications, in the aim of landing a 22/1 payout.

First up, we look to the KC Stadium, where a mouth-watering clash is in prospect as second-place Hull host third-place Watford.

And we side with Steve Bruce’s men at 23/20, to further build on what is already the Championship’s third-best home record.

Four points clear of their visitors, the Tigers meet a side winless in three, and one which failed to succeed away from home throughout March.

As a further reason to confide in the Humberside outfit, it should be noted that they haven’t lost in their past eight encounters with the Hornets, emerging triumphant on six of those occasions.

Next, we take Peterborough to continue their recent revival with a third consecutive victory at 5/2, which would see them move out of the drop zone.

They travel to a Middlesbrough side with dwindling play-off ambitions, on the back of four successive defeats, all of which came at the hands of lower-half opposition.

Indeed, two of the losses were suffered to bottom-three teams, whilst ‘Boro’s run of one victory in their past nine games in all competitions indicates the wisest investment is in the away side, who are unbeaten in their last six.

In contrast to Middlesbrough meanwhile, Brighton are a team who have bolstered their play-off credentials immeasurably over the course of the past few weeks, with a run of only two losses in 10 matches propelling them into the top six.

And they can make it five home wins from their past six Amex Stadium outings at 3/4 hosting Charlton, who have emerged victorious from just two of their last 11 games.

Finally, we choose Bolton to plunge Huddersfield into further relegation danger, by overcoming the Terriers in a Reebok Stadium meeting at 3/4.

The Trotters are desperate to get their play-off bid back on track, after back-to-back defeats followed a recent run of five consecutive victories, and they can do against a team that have already lost 10 times on the road this season.

Of further significance is the fact that Wanderers haven’t lost to Huddersfield since 1999, winning three of the past five meetings between the pair.
