Championship Accumulator: Hull and Forest to re-ignite promotion bids

Published:

Championship games continue to come thick and fast at the business end of the season, providing betting opportunities galore for second-tier punters.

Few fixtures lack significant league implications too, and we believe we have identified four teams capable of scoring crucial victories to bring a combined payout exceeding 13/1.

Hull are the first of our selections, taken as 5/6 shots to dispose of Middlesbrough at the KC Stadium.

Although inconsistent of late, the Tigers’ fate remains in their own hands, and they will aim to cement their top-two spot by overcoming a side that have won just one of their last 10 matches in all competitions.

Boro were beaten in seven of those games, and are likely to succumb again to the division’s fourth-best home side.

And similarly to Hull, we also choose Nottingham Forest to give their promotion credentials a shot in the arm by overpowering Blackpool at 10/11.

Forest remain unbeaten in nine matches since Billy Davies’ return to the club, and having won six of those games, look good to record another victory against a side they haven’t lost to in three years.

At the other end of the table meanwhile, we fancy Bristol City’s faltering survival bid to be dealt another blow in their visit to Burnley.

The Clarets are 10/11 to make home advantage count against the Championship’s worst travellers, and despite not being in sparkling form themselves, Sean Dyche’s men have only lost one of their last six, and can inflict a 15th away defeat of the campaign on the Robins.

We do expect another side battling relegation to experience improved fortunes however, and side with 6/5 Sheffield Wednesday to drag Blackburn Rovers closer to the mire.

Two victories from the Owls’ past four games has bolstered their hopes of remaining in England’s second tier massively, whilst Rovers’ failure to triumph in nine league outings has negated theirs.

With Blackburn failing to find the net in seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions too, Wednesday look to have a golden opportunity to take a maximum-point haul at Hillsborough.
