Bayern Munich alerted by latest actions of shamed Suarez

With media storms regarding racism, diving and handballs previously being eventually quelled by Liverpool, the latest controversy surrounding Luis Suarez looks like testing the club’s will to keep the player.

The striker’s bite on Branislav Ivanovic represents the second time he has committed such an offence during his career, after he previously received a seven-match ban at Ajax for sinking his teeth into PSV’s Otman Bakkal in 2010.

That incident earned him the nickname ‘The Cannibal’ in Holland, and with the Uruguayan now drawing yet more negative publicity to Liverpool, the club is under increasing pressure to allow him to leave Anfield.

As expected for a player of his calibre, there is no shortage of potential suitors for his services, with Bayern Munich and Juventus prominent in the running for his signature.

And it is thought that the Bundesliga champions-in-waiting lead the chase for the Premier League’s leading goalscorer, as Pep Guardiola aims to add dynamism to a frontline wealthy in physicality.

Indeed, Guardiola’s interest in Suarez has long been mooted, but it was previously thought that the Reds would fight tooth and nail to keep their star asset.

Brendan Rodgers’ latest claim that no player is irreplaceable at Anfield casts doubt over the aforementioned sentiment though, as does the pressure being inflicted upon the club by the English media to ensure the player leaves the Premier League.

Rodgers told BBC Sport: “This is a club with incredible values and ethics here. We’ll review it as a club, because there’s certainly no one bigger than this football club, a player or manager.”

As the FA now prepare to put the incident under review, Liverpool would appear to be as open as ever to transfer negotiations concerning a player they paid just shy of £23m for in 2011.

Despite his excessive baggage, it is likely that the 26-year-old would command around double that fee now, should Bayern firm up their interest in the enthusiastic forward.

And although Guardiola’s first significant action as Barcelona boss was to remove trouble-making personalities from his squad, he may be ready to do the exact opposite upon his arrival in Germany in order to land a player as undoubtedly talented as Suarez.
