Back a fourth different winner of the Formula One season in Bahrain

Published:

With three different winners from the opening trio of races in the 2013 Formula One season it is shaping up to be a repeat of last year when seven different victors emerged from the first seven races.

Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen already have a 25-point finish under their belts heading into Bahrain and Ladbrokes are offering 2/1 that any other member of the field makes it a quartet of different winners this weekend.

Felipe Massa perhaps offers the best option to take the chequered flag at a tempting 16/1.

Ferrari have a superb record in Bahrain having won four of the eight Grand Prix held in the country, with Massa himself being the premier man in two of those successes.

The Brazilian is also in impressive form so far this year, recording sixth, fifth and fourth place finishes in his three outings and should thrive around this Bahrain International Circuit.

Lewis Hamilton looks the obvious option here. The British driver has been impressive in his new Mercedes and already has two third place finishes to his name, after coming home fifth in the season’s curtain raiser in Australia.

Hamilton qualified second here last time out but was hampered by pit stop issues with his McLaren and finished eighth. This term it seems that he and his new team have the car set up perfectly for the Brit’s style and he already has a second and a third around this circuit.

Those fancying a win for the 2008 world champion can get 10/1 on him leading the pack home on Sunday.

Mark Webber has endured a trying start to the new campaign after his public falling out with teammate Vettel in Malaysia, which was followed up by a retirement in China after being forced to start at the back of the grid because he ran out of fuel in Q2.

The Australian also has a three place grid penalty here but his pedigree suggests he has more than enough to challenge for the win in the Middle East at 14/1.

He was impressive in Sakhir in 2012, qualifying third and finishing fourth on race day and he is likely to be in the mix throughout the weekend.
