Zaragoza v Granada: spoils to be shared in northern Spain

Published:

It may not look like the most thrilling La Liga game this season – or even this weekend – but this Sunday evening clash between Zaragoza and Granada could certainly lead to a decent pay out.

Both sides are fighting for their top tier lives and are 16th and 17th in La Liga, with Granada just one point above their hosts.

Zaragoza may be the home side, but playing on their own turf hasn’t exactly helped them rack up the points in recent weeks.

They’ve not won a game in ten attempts and have lost four of their last six at home, drawing the other two.

With Zaragoza in such a poor run of form the odds of 11/10 for a home win should be approached with extreme caution.

Similarly, Granada have been on a poor run and followed February victories against Real Madrid and Deportivo with three straight defeats in their last three matches.

They are 5/2 to get their fifth away win of the season but, again, it’s tough to see them turning their form around in such emphatic fashion.

Essentially, with two teams low on confidence and points, a draw wouldn’t be a disaster for either side and the match bet that looks the most tempting is a draw at a pretty meaty 23/10.

Meanwhile, with Granada averaging exactly one goal on their travels in La Liga this season, and Zaragoza averaging exactly 1.17 at home, this looks like being a low-scoring affair.

Three of their previous five meetings have seen just one goal scored and, while under 2.5 goals may not be that tempting (it’s currently just 1/12), backing under 1.5 may be worth serious consideration at 4/7, while the goalless draw is available at 7/1.
