World Cup accumulator: under 2.5 goals to help land 12/1 payday
Published:Alongside England’s expected thrashing of San Marino, there are 24 other European World Cup qualifiers taking place in this round of fixtures and we have picked four results that combine for a 12/1 accumulator.
Three of the predictions are for low scores, with under 2.5 goals anticipated in the home games for Liechtenstein, Bulgaria and Moldova, while Russia can win to nil when they head to a snowy Northern Ireland.
Liechtenstein host Latvia and they held their own when only losing the reverse fixture 2-0 earlier in the qualifying campaign.
Latvia are the better side, but with home advantage this time, Liechtenstein can keep things even tighter, while seven of their eight fixtures since August have seen no more than two goals scored.
Malta are another team that have a meagre reputation, but they don’t get thrashed often and can make Bulgaria work for victory.
With the game being played behind closed doors, Bulgaria will not be able to call upon any home support and they have only managed two goals across their last four games, clearly not helped by Dimitar Berbatov being retired.
Malta were only beaten 2-0 in Italy in September and head to Bulgaria with back-to-back clean sheets against Liechtenstein and Northern Ireland.
Our third pick for under 2.5 goals is another of the game’s from Group H, with England’s main rivals for top spot Montenegro heading to Moldova.
Ukraine were held to a goalless draw in Moldova’s last home qualifier and Moldova’s last three qualifiers since losing 5-0 to England have all witnessed under 2.5 goals.
Montenegro also host England on Tuesday and may take it a little easier here with one eye on that fixture.
Finally, Russia are yet to concede in their World Cup qualifiers thus far and have gone one stage further by winning each game to nil. They can repeat the feat at Northern Ireland.
