Schalke v Galatasaray: In-form Germans to make quarter finals

Published:

After their recent resurgence in form, Schalke look a good price at 8/11 to beat Galatasaray in 90 minutes.

A run of one win in 13 preceded their latest upturn in fortunes, which has seen the German outfit triumph in their last three, including an impressive success over Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund last time out.

They are also now unbeaten in five, and thus look good calls to avoid defeat in this match, making the hosts appear nailed on at 3/10 in the draw no bet market.

Punters envisaging another stalemate between the pair can alternatively back the draw at 5/2, whilst the visitors are 7/2 to victor in normal time, and 7/4 to qualify by any means.

Given that they remain only one of three unbeaten teams in the Champions League however, Schalke look a safe bet to progress to the quarter-final stage at 2/5.

They may do so by a narrow margin though, should they continue the trend they have set thus far in European competition.

Indeed, of the hosts’ three group stage wins, two came by a single goal, whilst the Germans have also scored twice in four of their seven matches in this campaign.

A 2-1 home success is priced at 15/2, and looks to have every chance of occurring, as does the possibility of both teams finding the net in a Schalke triumph.

Both teams have scored in five of the hosts’ seven European games this season, whilst the same can be said in four of travelling Galatasaray’s outings, including the last two.

It is 12/5 regarding a German success in which either defence is breached, and that price should be very seriously considered.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Farfan leads the betting as 5/1 favourite to break the deadlock for Schalke in the absence of hitman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who misses out through injury.

But advanced midfielder Julian Draxler may prove a better option at 7/1 to enhance his seasonal record of nine goals with the opener here.
