Ferguson convinced Man United will find the net against Real

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted Real Madrid were “superb’” in their 3-1 dismantling of Barcelona last week – but the Manchester United manager believes the Spanish champions won’t be as good this Tuesday.

United host Real following their 1-1 draw in Spain three weeks ago and are out at 9/5 to win the game in 90 minutes.

While Ferguson was gushing about Real’s win against Barca, he feels this Tuesday night’s clash will be a far tougher test for Jose Mourinho’s men and he fully expects his men to take the game to the visitors.

Speaking to the Sun, Ferguson said: “You get that sometimes, I’ve experienced it myself. You need 11 players to play well but, on odd occasions, you have 11 players who are absolutely superb.

“That’s what you had the other night. They had 11 who were absolutely superb. But I don’t think they’ll reach that height on Tuesday. I think it was a one-off performance.

“They’ll still play well and we’ll have to make sure we play well. But the other night they really hit the heights, it was a top performance.

“We’ll be OK because it will be a different game. That was the issue on Tuesday, their counter-attacking was terrific. We’re aware of that and our preparation has to include that but I think we’ll score, I really do.”

Ferguson’s belief in his side’s ability to find the net will not have been dented by their crushing 4-0 win against Norwich on Saturday.

It’s currently a tiny 9/20 that both teams score at Old Trafford, while a far tastier punt may be to back over 3.5 goals at 13/10.
