Everton v Man City: Hosts to extend strong record against champions

Published:

After FA Cup humiliation at Goodison Park last time out, Everton will be hoping to appease their home supporters with victory over Manchester City at 5/2 in the Premier League.

And whilst the reigning champions’ visit represents a tough chance for the Toffees to justify those odds, their strong recent form opposite the Citizens should not be discounted.

Everton have lost only one of the past seven encounters of the pair, winning five, and conceding only five goals in the process.

The superb recent form of their 21/20 counterparts is a negative to backers of the Merseyside outfit, but they should not totally be written off, with a draw perhaps the best way to go in match betting markets.

It is 12/5 that a stalemate ensues, as it did in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, when a 1-1 scoreline emerged at the Etihad.

6/1 is the price regarding an exact repeat of that outcome, whilst the score draw could alternatively see support at 16/5.

Although City have won their last four matches without conceding, a side with such a tremendous recent record against them appear highly capable of breaking that sequence.

Indeed, David Moyes’ side have only failed to register in the league on four occasions this term, with only one of these games being played at Goodison.

With that in mind, the 3/4 odds on both teams simply finding the net look good, also in light of the 12 strikes the visitors have notched in their past four matches across all competitions.

Carlos Tevez has been responsible for six of those goals, and having broke the deadlock in half of the Citizens’ last four games, he tempts as a big 5/1 first scorer shot.

For the hosts, Marouane Fellaini could prove popular after opening the scoring in Everton’s last league game, and against City earlier in the season.

The imposing Belgian is 7/1 to bag first again in this match.
