Depleted Fantasy Football week means Sissoko can top score

Published:

With Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all without Premier League fixtures in gameweek 29, many of the big guns who are normally fancied to collect strong points won’t be getting any.

It is left to Luis Suarez to head the betting at 10/1 and his hat-trick at Wigan last time will make him popular.

However, a home game with a Tottenham team that have won six of their last seven does not guarantee more goals, while a possible return of Daniel Sturridge from injury may see Suarez change position slightly.

In fact, Liverpool’s only goal in four meetings with Tottenham has been an own goal and so avoiding fellow fancies Sturridge and Steven Gerrard to top score may also be prudent.

Bale has 11 goals in his last nine games for club and country and given this form, punters may have expected him to be shorter than 18/1 in this market.

But Liverpool have kept clean sheets in four of their last six at Anfield.

Loic Remy (14/1), Christian Benteke (16/1), Rickie Lambert (16/1) and Romelu Lukaku (18/1) are all strikers that may well have a good week, but the fancy is for a Newcastle player to enjoy a profitable fixture at home to Stoke.

Stoke are currently bottom of the Premier League form table and they have lost each of their last four away games in the top-flight, scoring just once in the process.

Picking a defender may therefore be lucrative, especially one that may contribute a goal or assist alongside a clean sheet, as Maynor Figueroa did the other week against Reading.

Mathieu Debuchy (40/1) and Davide Santon are both options in this respect, but preference is for a midfielder.

Moussa Sissoko has only been in the game for five weeks, but has registered double-figure hauls twice already and 28/1 is a fair price that he accrues the most points in gameweek 29.
