Arsenal’s Giroud has to be backed for top Fantasy Football scorer

Published:

Arsenal’s home game with Reading looks the obvious fixture to focus on when attempting to identify the top Fantasy Football point scorer in gameweek 31 and therefore it is a surprise to find the first choice Gunners centre-forward 33/1 in this market.

Granted, Olivier Giroud has not scored in the Premier League since the end of January, but he must have gained some confidence from his goal for France in the World Cup qualifying success over Georgia.

Meanwhile, Lukas Podolski is expected to make a first Arsenal start in over a month at home to Reading and his more natural supply from the left side should benefit Giroud, who has already scored against the opposition in the Capital One Cup this season.

Reading have conceded the most goals in the Premier League this season and if Arsenal are at their fluid best, Giroud could help himself to a hatful.

It is Theo Walcott that heads the betting to be top point scorer at 10/1, but he must be avoided given that he seems certain to miss out because of injury.

Santi Cazorla is more appealing at 12/1, especially given that he has already scored a hat-trick against Reading this season and achieved 23 points in the process.

Away from Arsenal, Liverpool have scored more goals than any other Premier League team in their last six games and their trip to Villa Park should be an open affair.

Luis Suarez has registered double-figure points hauls in three of the last four gameweeks and is fair value at 16/1 to gain the most points.

However, it is defenders that have been the top point scorers in three of the last five weeks and Ryan Shawcross could continue this run at 100/1.

Shawcross is a danger from set plays and Stoke travel to an Everton side that have kept just five cleans sheets all season.
