Solid Swansea can reward divisional handicap punters

Swansea have surprised many this season by continuing, and building upon, the tremendous foundations Brendan Rodgers laid in the Welsh team’s debut Premier League season last term.

Michael Laudrup has picked up where Rodgers left off though, and at 2/1, the Swans look a superb call in divisional handicap betting.

The Jacks began the season with a 42-point head-start in this market, and, when applying league leaders Manchester United’s two-point benefit, have 12 points in hand on the Red Devils.

United are 1/1 favourites to triumph in this market meanwhile, but with the title all but sewn up, they could begin to prioritise other competitions.

Of course, Swansea too have other commitments, but their expected Capital One Cup success could provide a springboard for them to kick on in league competition too.

Laudrup’s side have lost only twice on their own patch this season, and as such will fancy their chances in their six remaining Liberty Stadium fixtures.

Their record opposing lower-half teams is exemplary also, with the Welsh outfit managing to avoid defeat in 12 of their 15 outings thus far against bottom-ten sides.

Five bottom-half teams have still to meet Swansea this season, and so these will be games that the Swans can be confident of taking maximum points from.

Another huge plus point for City meanwhile, is undoubted signing of the season Michu, who shows no signs of ceasing his blistering goalscoring form.

Ruthless in front of goal, the Spaniard’s brace in his most recent outing represented the 17th and 18th goals of an astonishing debut campaign in England’s top flight.

And after vowing to strive for even more goals, the imposing midfielder’s attitude bodes well for more positive Swansea results.

As does the set-up of the side that has made the Swans so difficult to beat this term.

Indeed, only the Premier League’s top six have lost less games than Laudrup’s men, who have suffered just two defeats in their last ten.

Often taking single points from the trickier-looking fixtures, and prevailing in bouts opposing lesser sides, Swansea have risen into contention for European qualification through their league standing.

And should their form continue in that trend, they will give divisional handicap punters a very good run for their money at 2/1.
