Real Madrid maestro on Manchester United, Inter and PSG radar

After a largely indifferent season for Real Madrid, officials of the La Liga champions appear ready to come to terms with the departure of winger Angel di Maria.

Though still a regular fixture in Jose Mourinho’s side, Di Maria is viewed as dispensable, and a number of top European clubs have emerged as potential suitors for his services.

Amongst these, Manchester United are thought to have first option on the Argentinian winger, who joined Real from Benfica three years ago in a deal initially worth £22m.

And despite showing flashes of his undoubted ability since his 2010 arrival in Spain, the infrequency of standout Di Maria displays means his value has deteriorated since then.

As such, United could be in pole position to tie up a £15m deal for the wide-man, though they are likely to face stiff competition from the likes of PSG and Inter Milan.

Indeed, Inter are keen to swell their midfield ranks in the aftermath of Wesley Sneijder’s departure to Galatasaray, and would like to use Di Maria in a more central role.

Whether or not that is a challenge the 25-year-old would enjoy remains to be seen, with the vast array of options seemingly available to him.

PSG would welcome the opportunity to make Di Maria their latest high-profile squad addition, and their superior financial might would allow them to offer the Argentina international a huge wage packet.

However, the chance to move from one of the world’s most famous clubs to another could prove too difficult to resist for the silky midfielder.

Ready to turn out at Old Trafford in Real’s last 16 Champions League tie opposing the Premier League leaders, Di Maria may next season call that ground home.

It appears that if Sir Alex Ferguson is serious about landing the tricky winger, he is in pole position to do so.
