Oldham v Everton: Toffees will deny hosts a Merseyside double
In a competition that David Moyes traditionally takes very seriously, Everton travel to Oldham as 1/3 chances to conquer the League One side in 90 minutes.
FA Cup semi-finalists last year, the Toffees look like they mean business again this term, fielding as strong a side as possible in their two tournament matches so far.
They won both of those contests on the road to lower league opposition in games that featured in excess of 2.5 goals, and a repeat of that outcome is 19/20 here.
Perhaps surprisingly though, the Blues conceded in each of those games, and so better value may come through backing Everton to win a match in which both teams score, at 21/20.
Home side Oldham, who bested Liverpool to reach the FA Cup fifth round, are 15/2 to repeat their giant-killing exploits by overcoming Everton in 90 minutes.
Their damning league predicament indicates the magnitude of the task they face though, with the Latics sitting in the League One relegation zone.
But whilst a gulf in class is evident between the sides, should the hosts race out of the blocks as they did against Liverpool, the Premier League hosts may initially struggle.
As aforementioned, Everton were breached in both previous rounds of this competition opposing lower league sides.
And after Oldham’s first-minute strike against Brendan Rodgers’ side, they could be worth investment to open the scoring at 14/5.
That said, a comfortable victory for Moyes’ travelling charges should still be expected, especially considering the way they demolished Cheltenham in an earlier FA Cup round.
5-1 was the eventual result in the Toffees’ favour, and backing them in handicap markets could prove profitable here.
Priced at 20/21 giving up a goal head start, and at 23/10 gifting their hosts a two-goal advantage, Everton make much appeal.
The strength of Moyes’ team selection should of course stand his team in good stead for progression, and wincast markets could too prove a useful tool for punters in this match.
Whilst Nikica Jelavic has struggled for league goals recently, he has an FA Cup strike to his name this term, and can net in an Everton win at 1/1.
