Man Utd v Everton: Fergie’s men face another tricky test

Published:

Manchester United host Everton this Sunday with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men keen to forget about their last couple of meetings with the Toffees.

United began their 2012/13 Premier League campaign with a bruising 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park, but it was their previous match that has left much deeper scars.

The Toffees fought back from 4-2 down with less than ten minutes to go to nab a point from Old Trafford and leave the Premier League door open for Manchester City to stumble through.

Another 4-4 draw can be backed at 200/1 but, with United once again easing through the gears as we enter ‘squeaky bum time’ it’s hard to see beyond a victory for United.

They haven’t lost in 13 league games and, heading into Saturday’s games, they’re nine points clear of Roberto Mancini’s defending champions.

Everton haven’t won at Old Trafford in the league since 1992 which makes the 8/13 offered for a straight United win look a pretty decent bet. However, things have been rather tighter than the United faithful would have liked in recent years.

Not once in the last five meetings between the teams has more than one goal separated them.

With that in mind, backing Everton to win with a +1 handicap at 6/5 looks a bet well worth consideration.

Finally, Marouane Fellaini – who absolutely dominated the United back four in their last meeting – has two in two against the Premier League table-toppers and can be backed at 5/2 to find the net any time for the Toffees.
