Kieswetter can pepper boundaries while Durham can cause upset

Somerset ensured their place in the knock-out stages for the fifth year running with a 10 run victory over Warwickshire.

The victory secured second place in the Midlands, Wales and West Group and the West Country outfit were helped in no small part by the performance of Craig Kieswetter.

The aggressive opener knocked 76 off 53 balls in just over an hour and the performance was typical of the sort of form Hobnob is currently enjoying.

In Somerset’s previous game, Kieswetter scored 80 against Worcestershire and prior to that knocked 61 against Gloucestershire – both accomplished displays of batting. If he continues this sort of form, 22.5 looks a very tempting line at 5/6.

That is not the only value to be had from the South African-born wicketkeeper though, and the boundary markets also appeal.

Kieswetter is 11/10 to make over 2.5 fours and evens to secure over 0.5 sixes – totals he has surpassed in his last five matches in the tournament. Northamptonshire face Durham in the second quarter-final of the day, with both sides looking to make the final day for only the second time.

While Durham sneaked in to the final eight as one of the best-placed third teams, Northamptonshire have been cruising thus far, winning the Midlands, Wales and West Group and with qualification already secured could afford to rest players in their final match of the group against Worcestershire.

And while Northants warrant their favouritism, the value could be with Durham, 11/10, who are in a rich vein of form having won their last five matches.

With Phil Mustard in the ranks they certainly have a chance. The wicketkeeper is one of only five men in the tournament who has scored over 300 runs in the competition and a line of 22.5 will certainly appeal to some given that his average has been 33.30 thus far.

Contrastingly, Northants star man Richard Levi misses out after being called up for South Africa A and as such it is difficult to side with the Midlands side.
