European football: Juventus and Barcelona face tough tests

Published:

Football betting doesn’t begin and end with the Premier League so here are three tasty-looking games from around Europe that could lead to a decent pay out from the comfort of your own sofa…

Chievo v Juventus, ESPN, 11:30

Juventus haven’t exactly been flying in recent weeks and their poor form was capped by a Coppa Italia defeat against Lazio in their last game. They’ve won just two of their last seven in 90 minutes and face a Chievo side who are proving hard to beat on home soil. They haven’t lost any of their previous eight Serie A home matches and backing this clash to end in a draw at 11/4 looks a pretty tasty punt.

Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Dortmund, ESPN, 16:30

Dortmund head into this clash on the back of a 1-0 away defeat against Koln but know a win here would take them above their opponents and into second place in the Bundesliga. However, getting a win at Leverkusen could be beyond even the reigning German champions. Leverkusen have won each of their previous eight home league games and have shipped only one goal in their last seven. With Leverkusen so frugal, backing this to end level at 5/2 looks worth a bet, while under 2.5 goals will also be worth some serious consideration.

Valencia v Barcelona, Sky Sports 1, 18:30

Even after a shock defeat to Real Sociadad a fortnight ago, it’s hard to see any other outcome than a Barcelona win. They were excellent for long periods against Real Madird in the week and smashed Osasuna 5-1 last weekend. Meanwhile, Valencia have shipped 10 in their last four so backing a high scoring affair looks the best way to cash in on this clash.
