Straight-set Federer win makes our Australian Open accumulator

Andy Murray and Laura Robson lead the British charge on day four of the Australian Open, with the Olympic silver medallists both out to reach the third rounds of their respective events in Melbourne.

Murray offers no value at 1/200 to beat Joao Sousa, while even the 1/14 that the Brit progresses in straight sets is hard to get excited about.

Meanwhile, Robson could be in for a humdinger with world number eight Petra Kvitova and the best bet could be that the match ends up going to a deciding set.

However, neither are included in our Australian Open accumulator, which pays out at 30/1 if all of our six selections are correct.

We were one result out in our last accumulator when Daniel Gimeno-Traver failed to take a set off Nicolas Almagro and we are keen to make amends.

Milos Raonic is our big banker as he steps on court with Lukas Rosol.

Rosol had his serve broken on more than one occasion by Britain’s Jamie Baker in the first round and will not be so fortunate if giving the same opportunities to Raonic.

James Duckworth is one of few remaining Australians still alive in the tournament, but Blaz Kavcic can be expected to make his 100+ places in the ATP rankings count.

Kavcic brushed aside Thomasz Bellucci in the first round, while Duckworth struggled substantially against another Aussie in little-known Ben Mitchell in a match that he won 8-6 in a deciding set.

Gilles Simon is never a player to rely upon, but his price is too generous to beat Jesse Levine, given that Levine has such a dire record against those ranked in the top 50.

Also in the men’s draw, Andreas Seppi can get revenge for a five-set Wimbledon defeat to Denis Istomin last year.

Seppi should be better suited to the slower courts of Melbourne and was impressive in Sydney recently when reaching the semi finals.

Our final men’s pick is Roger Federer, who has won 17 of his 19 career meetings with Nikolay Davydenko.

Davydenko is also on the decline now and the Swiss maestro can move on in straight sets.

The one female inclusion is the expectation of a major shock, with former world number one Caroline Wozniacki facing the youngest player in either the men’s or women’s draw in Donna Vekic.

Wozniacki was let off the hook in the first round as Sabine Lisicki made a huge number of unforced errors and there remain flaws in her game.

Vekic only dropped three games against the higher-rated Andrea Hlavackova and is certainly capable of springing another surprise.
