Remy will do well to score more than five QPR goals this season

Loic Remy will be tasked with the responsibility of scoring the goals to keep QPR in the Premier League after signing for a club record sum from Marseille, but it is hard to foresee him netting more than five over the remainder of the campaign.

Remy has penned a four-and-a-half year deal at Loftus Road and with QPR 1/2 to be relegated this season, Harry Redknapp will be hoping that £8m is money well spent to achieve this feat.

The good news for Redknapp is that Remy has scored goals wherever he has gone, but the bad news is that h has never been truly prolific.

Remy’s best single-season league haul was 15 when at Marseille in 2011, but it should be remembered that this was for a team creating numerous chances and competing for a title, rather than one battling relegation where opportunities are at more of a premium.

Aside from at Marseille, Remy has pretty much averaged a goal every three games when at teams on a par with QPR, so it would make sense to assume that his strike rate will be much the same in London.

Punters trying to anticipate how many goals Remy will score over the remainder of the season would therefore be wise to take the 6/4 that he manages either four or five, as QPR have 16 Premier League games remaining.

Alternatively, it is 2/1 that he helps himself to six or more and 21/10 that he converts either two or three chances.

However, given that he has only managed three goals all season for Marseille thus far, 10/1 is a slightly tempting price that he scores no more than one Premier League goal over the rest of the campaign.

Other specials relating to the French striker are 25/1 for the double of Remy scoring at least 10 goals at QPR avoiding the drop, 40/1 that he grabs a hat-trick against West Ham on his expected debut and 7/4 that he is on target against Newcastle later in the season, who were the other club vying for his signature.
