Redknapp plans QPR raid on Tottenham for midfield man

QPR’s bid to beat the drop was given a huge lift when they miraculously beat west London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last time out. This famous victory has seen their chances of avoiding the drop improve and could prove to be a welcome catalyst for their January recruitment drive.

Harry Redknapp’s side are currently expected to fail in their quest to avoid a return to English football’s second tier with a price of 4/9 on offer for them to be relegated from the Premier League.

The R’s boss believes his current squad is lacking in fight judging from the names that he has been linked with moves for, the latest being another he knows well from his time in charge at Tottenham.

Jake Livermore has been used very sparingly by Andre Villas-Boas this season and it’s high time the 23-year-old England international was fed up of bit-part playing, having spent his entire Spurs career to date doing so.

Since his 2008 debut he’s made as little as 32 first team appearances for the north London side, having been shipped out on a staggering six loan deals.

Roy Hodgson’s willingness to hand the combative midfielder an England cap shows what potential the player has, but he’ll soon be into his footballing prime and needs to be getting regular first team action.

That clearly isn’t going to happen at Spurs and QPR would provide the perfect solution to his problem should they be able to reach an agreement with their London rivals.

There’s every chance that they’ll be plying their trade in the Championship next season, but he’ll obtain half a season of regular Premier League football should he move and, with Redknapp well aware of his qualities and surely not in a position where he can waste money on players, Livermore is likely to become a lynchpin in their escape act if a deal can be concluded.
