QPR will offload goalkeeper to Real Madrid to fund other targets

QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar has emerged as a shock transfer target for Real Madrid following the news that Iker Casillas could be sidelined for up to three months with a broken hand.

With crucial Champions League and Copa del Rey dates on the horizon for Real, Jose Mourinho is seeking an experienced stopper and Cesar is someone he knows well from their time together at Inter Milan.

The Brazilian international only moved to Loftus Road last summer though it’s difficult to imagine Harry Redknapp standing in his way should he wish to push through a move to the Spanish capital.

His astronomical wages are something the R’s wouldn’t miss with the threat of relegation hanging over their heads and, let’s face it, things couldn’t get any worse for them on the pitch. It’s also questionable whether they even require his services given that they have a perfectly good goalkeeper warming the bench in Rob Green.

The team has much more important areas to address and the money they would generate from Cesar’s sale would go a long way to helping them plug some of the gaps that have seen them sink to the foot of the Premier League, five points adrift from safety.
Central defence is arguably the most important area in which they require reinforcements and any amount of names have been linked with a move to join the Hoops’ fight to beat the drop.

Having missed out on the likes of Vegard Forren and Michael Dawson, one man who looks set to sign on the dotted line is South Korean international Yun Suk-young.

The Chunnam Dragons star featured in the Korean Olympic squad and is due in London for a medical.

Another name repeatedly mentioned in relation to QPR is Portuguese centre half Rolando. Redknapp is thought to have been in contact with Porto’s powers that be regarding the sale of the man who has found himself on the fringes of the Portuguese champions’ team of late.

With Anton Ferdinand and Ryan Nelson both expected to be on their way out in the not too distant future, should QPR ship out Cesar as well, they will have ample funds to acquire these defensive reinforcements ahead of their battle to avoid relegation, which is currently priced at 7/4 to end in success.
