Darts Accumulator: Winstanley heads valuable treble
The first round action continues at Alexandra Palace and we fancy Steve Beaton, Wes Newton and Dean Winstanley to seal their berths into the second round.
However, by being slightly more adventurous we have found a lucrative treble that pays out 36/1.
Steve Beaton to beat Kyle Anderson 3-1 @ 2/1
It is fair to say that Beaton does not have the greatest track record in this tournament, falling at the first hurdle in two of the last four years and not getting beyond the second round since 2004.
He almost went out in the first round last year too before battling back to beat Magnus Caris.
Therefore, there are reasons to believe that Aussie Anderson is capable of pinching at least a set on his Alexandra Palace debut.
Wes Newton to beat Johnny Haines 3-2 @ 5/1
Haines may be largely unknown, but made waves at the recent Dutch Darts Masters when beating Peter Wright, Raymond van Barneveld and Jamie Caven en route to the quarter finals, where he was eliminated by eventual winner Simon Whitlock.
This shows what he is capable of and Newton has not been at his best for the last two months, since making the semi finals of the World Grand Prix.
There is a slight chance of an upset here, but preference is for the favourite to sneak through in a deciding set.
Dean Winstanley to beat Mervyn King @ 1/1
King may have reached the final of the World Grand Prix, but his three-dart average was not particularly high throughout.
Winstanley has the tools to capitalise if on song and will be keen to make an impact on his debut after moving codes from the BDO.
There is also some mileage in the 5/6 that at least eight 180s are scored in the match, given that there is every reason to believe this could go to a deciding fifth set.
