C’ship Accumulator: Blackburn pick of the 17/1 bunch

Published:

Our Championship accumulator this week consists of four home wins and features some surprisingly good value prices.

Blackburn offer the most attractive of these prices ahead of their clash with Brighton and they play a huge part in inflating the odds on this fourfold to 17/1.

Blackburn to beat Brighton @ 7/5

Amid reports of dressing room disharmony Rovers will be keen to set things straight when Gus Poyet’s men rock up at Ewood Park.

The hosts are loitering in an uninspiring 15th place in the Championship and with an incredibly poor no wins in their last five, it’s possible that their Venky’s owners are regretting giving Steve Kean the heave-ho.

The Seagulls have only managed one away win in their last seven trips and, although they are solid side, they represent a real opportunity for Henning Berg to relieve some of the mounting pressure he finds himself under.

Millwall to beat Barnsley @ 7/10

For the majority, it’s a question of time before the Lions are confirmed as flash in the pan material yet they continue to impress.

Barnsley arrive at the Den with no win in 11 and they’re coming off the back of a demoralising defeat at the hands of local rivals Sheffield Wednesday last time out. They’re in real relegation danger and with Millwall having picked up five wins in their last seven home games their situation is likely to be a great deal stickier at the final whistle of this one.

Ipswich to beat Bristol City @ 5/6

As expected, Mick McCarthy has brought about an immediate improvement in Ipswich’s fortunes and, prior to last weekend’s defeat at Leeds, the Tractor Boys had won three on the bounce.

This good run has lifted them five points clear of the relegation zone and they sit one place above their next opponents Bristol City, who are surely there for the taking.

The Robins haven’t won any of their last five visits to Portman Road and have only managed to score once. With Ipswich heading in the opposite direction to Derek McInnes’ side, expect another three points for the McCarthy revolution here.

Birmingham to beat Burnley @ 13/10

The Blues are very much a hot and cold team. They halted Middlesbrough’s lengthy unbeaten streak three games back, then followed it up with defeat at stuttering Wolves. Fortunately for them, however, Burnley aren’t in the greatest of shape on the field and the hosts should record a much needed three points here.

The Clarets have won just once in their previous seven outings and have been on the receiving end of defeats in seven of their 11 away days this term. Wins have been at a premium for Birmingham this term and they must take advantage of this rare opportunity for three points here.
