Swansea vs Liverpool: Rodgers poised for decent return

Published:

Brendan Rodgers returns to the Liberty Stadium for the first time since his summer move to Liverpool this weekend with the Reds favourites to pick up three points.

The Reds are 6/5 to win in Wales but, like the response Rodgers can expect from the Jack Army, it could end up being something of a mixed bag.

Liverpool appear to be improving with each game, have now gone seven Premier League matches without tasting defeat and swept aside Wigan 3-0 in their last game thanks in part to a brace from in-form striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan scored in the Reds’ last game against the Swans and can be backed at 4/1 to find the net at any time this Sunday.

Meanwhile, Swansea’s own sharp shooter, Michu, has seven goals already this term and has been playing in a more advanced role at the expense of Danny Graham in recent weeks, if anyone is going to find the net for the Welsh side then it’s surely him.

He’s 6/1 to find the net at any time.

In terms of match betting, Liverpool haven’t been able to beat Swansea in their last three attempts and have lost their last two – last season’s final game at the Liberty and a Carling Cup game at Anfield earlier this season.

The Swans have lost just one of their previous nine Premier League home games and have drawn three of their last five – including their last one against Chelsea.

With two teams currently separated by just one point in mid-table, backing this to end in a tentative draw at 11/5 may represent the best chance of cashing in.

However, if you can see Swansea getting their third win in a row against the Reds, then they can be backed at 12/5 to pick up all three points.
