Serie A and La Liga – Juventus v Inter and Atlético v Valencia

Juventus welcome Inter Milan to Turin for the ESPN televised top-of-the-table Serie A clash before Valencia face in-form Atlético at the Mestalla in La Liga, live on Sky Sports.

Two huge games like these are inevitably difficult to call, and if like me you are struggling to pick winners then both games to end as a draw offers tempting odds of nearly 12.

Gun to the head I would plump with Juventus and Atlético due to their stronger form, and that very double is worth a healthy 4.66.

What is sure is that these continental clashes look set to entertain, as Serie A’s top two teams go head-to-head while La Liga’s surprise package chases a club record start to the season.

Juventus to draw with Inter Milan @ 5/2

Juventus have won their last three Serie A fixtures at home to Inter, and are unbeaten in six league clashes between the two sides in Turin.

The Bianconeri have yet to be beaten one home soil in the league since moving into their £120m Juventus Stadium in September 2011, and recently equalled Arsenal’s 49-match ‘Invicibles’ unbeaten run.

Juve are also yet to suffer defeat in any competition yet this season, and hold a four-point lead over nearest rivals Inter in the Italian top flight.

The Nerazzurri are in good form themselves, and go into this highly-anticipated Serie A meeting on the back of eight straight victories.

But Inter’s last league victory at Juventus was a tight 1-0 win back in 2005, and Andrea Stramaccioni’s side have lost three times already this campaign.

Curiously though the Milan club seem to prefer playing away from home, having won every time they have started a match as visitors this season.

As you can see, this match is the very definition of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object, and therefore a draw may be the best bet.

Goals could come from anywhere on the pitch with these two team, but Juve’s Mirko Vucinic scored against Inter last season and at 5/1 looks a decent bet to break the deadlock.

Atlético Madrid to draw with Valencia at 12/5

Atlético have overcome Valencia twice in three seasons in two-legged Europa League affairs, and did so last year on route to picking up the trophy.

Madrid’s infamous second side are a powerful force this term sitting level on points with leaders Barca, having won 13 games on the bounce in all competitions.

And If they can secure their ninth win in a row in La Liga against Valencia they will better their previous best start to a campaign, when they went on to win a league and cup double back in 1996.

However, Valencia haven’t lost at home in the league to Atlético for nearly a decade, with a strong record in this fixture at the Mestalla for Los Che stretching back to 2003.

Valencia have lost five in all competitions already this season, but I just fancy them to just scrape a draw against a dangerous Los Colchoneros outfit.

The usual suspects are likely to be amongst the goals, with red-hot Colombian striker Falcao the favourite to open the scoring at 9/2 with the hosts’ prolific marksman Roberto Soldado not far off at 5/1.
